The local rescuers that we work with, collect cats and dogs off the streets and take them to the local vets. 
After sterilisation, they're kept bythe Vet for a day or longer, to give them aftercare. After that, most of them will be returned to the exact place where they have been found (Trap, Neuter, Return), unless they are sick or when they need other care or treatments. 
We will also feed the cats, when they are back with their colony after being sterilised; those we couldn't rehome.
 
In the case of many injured due to abuse or neglect (in many cases pet owners dumping), they are treated, vaccinated, fostered and rehomed.
